El afectado, con síntomas de parada cardiorrespiratoria, fue trasladado después a un centro hospitalario tras la rápida intervención inicial del trabajador, que fue vital.

El vigilante de seguridad de la empresa Securitas José Juan Ortega, que prestaba sus servicios en el hotel Marylanza Suites & Spa (Arona), asociado a Ashotel, la madrugada del pasado 26 de marzo, le salvó la vida a un cliente al intervenir con un desfibrilador semiautomático (DESA), tras sufrir una parada cardiorrespiratoria.

La esposa del afectado llamó de madrugada a la recepción pidiendo ayuda, pues su marido no respiraba. Inmediatamente, el trabajador de Securitas cogió el DESA y subió a la habitación; comprobó que no respiraba ni tenía pulso y comenzó a realizar maniobras de reanimación cardiopulmonar (RCP), lo que permitió reanimar al cliente, hasta que llegó la ambulancia deQuirónsalud Costa Adeje, que lo llevó hasta este centro hospitalario. Allí sufrió una segunda parada y una vez que se lo estabilizó, como necesitaba un cateterismo de urgencia fue trasladado a Hospitén Sur, donde se quedó ingresado.

El turista, de origen noruego, llegó a estar en coma; sin embargo, solo unos días después miembros de su familia informaron de que se encontraba casi totalmente recuperado, y agradecieron la rápida intervención del vigilante de seguridad, que fue decisiva para salvarle la vida, tal y como confirmaron posteriormente a Ashotel sendos centros hospitalarios.

Era la primera vez que Juan José Ortega daba un uso real a un desfibrilador semiautomático y realizaba una reanimación cardiopulmonar, después de haberse formado en el uso correcto de este instrumental médico que salva vidas, más allá de las prácticas que realizó en su momento con los correspondientes maniquíes RCP.

No es el primero de los incidentes de este tipo que se produce en un hotel de Tenerife con final feliz. En septiembre de 2016 se produjo un caso similar en Apartamentos Casablanca, en Puerto de la Cruz, también asociado a Ashotel. Situaciones así ponen de manifiesto la enorme importancia que tiene el hecho de que los establecimientos turísticos estén equipados correctamente con desfibriladores semiautomáticos y tengan, además, a su personal formado, como es el caso de este hotel. De hecho, Ashotel forma parte desde el año pasado de la red de espacios cardioprotegidos y tiene firmado un convenio con una empresa especializada para la instalación de los DESA y la formación de su personal.

El director de Marylanza Suites & Spa, Fernando Josa, apunta que el establecimiento que dirige cuenta con un DESA desde 2015 y tiene formado a su personal. Josa considera que “es un ejercicio de responsabilidad disponer de este equipamiento en lugares públicos como los hoteles, y aunque lógicamente siempre esperamos no tener que usarlo, puede suponer -como en este caso- la diferencia entre la vida y la muerte de una persona”.
