Mena ha recordado que “en 2015 veníamos de muchos años de malos gobiernos con un coste que seguimos pagando a día de hoy”, con espacios públicos “y con nuestras calles en un estado de abandono lamentable, con unas playas que carecía de socorristas y de servicios básicos, un periodo en el que, siendo un destino turístico, perdimos, incluso las banderas azules”, una situación que cambió “cuando en 2015 la ciudadanía de Arona habló alto y claro. Hemos hecho un esfuerzo mayúsculo para enderezar este barco –ha agregado-, para que este municipio avance y no vuelva a retroceder”.

Una lista de hombres y mujeres para lograr la “mayoría rotunda que necesita Arona, para seguir avanzando y para no mirar nunca, nunca más al pasado, un magnífico equipo compuesto de mujeres y hombres comprometidos con nuestro pueblo”. De esta manera ha presentado hoy el secretario general de los socialistas de este municipio, alcalde y candidato a la relección, José Julián Mena, la lista del PSC-PSOE a las elecciones del próximo 26 de mayo.

Mena y el conjunto de la lista han protagonizado, de esta manera, el acto público de presentación, que se ha celebrado en un Auditorio Infanta Leonor de Los Cristianos lleno, en el que han estado arropados por el candidato socialista a la Presidencia del Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, así como por el diputado electo por Santa Cruz de Tenerife Héctor Gómez, la vicesecretaria general del PSC-PSOE en Canarias, Nira Fierro, y las integrantes del municipio en las listas tanto al Parlamento de Canarias, Yolanda Mendoza, como al Cabildo, Liskel Álvarez, además de por el alcalde de Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga.

El secretario general del PSC-PSOE de Arona ha subrayado que los cuatro próximos años, y con la lista que ha presentado, “serán los de la consolidación de Arona como referencia y capital del Sur, desde el desarrollo sostenible, la creación de empleo, las políticas sociales y la ampliación de derechos”, al tiempo que ha recordado que “Arona es la quinta ciudad de Canarias y tercera de Tenerife por población, el corazón y capital del Sur, un municipio con ciudadanos de hasta 130 nacionalidades cuyas diferencias nos enriquecen”.

Mena ha recordado que “en 2015 nuestro pueblo habló alto y claro, cuando se produjo un vuelco político después de muchos años de malos gobiernos de Coalición Canaria cuya locura estamos pagando todavía hoy en día, con nuestras calles y espacios públicos en un estado lamentable, perdiendo impulso, con nuestras playas carentes de socorristas y de servicios básicos, perdiendo nuestras banderas azules, con el consiguiente desprestigio como destino turístico”.

Frente a esta situación, ha agregado, “hemos hecho un esfuerzo mayúsculo por enderezar este barco, para que el viento vuelva a soplar en las velas, convirtiendo Arona en uno de los primeros municipios españoles de más de 50.000 habitantes con deuda cero, con un Ayuntamiento saneado, bajando los impuestos y con un nivel de inversiones nunca visto, a través del programa Arona Avanza”, ha explicado.

Mena ha enumerado los proyectos y obras llevados a cabo y ha asegurado que “no hemos parado de trabajar por nuestros vecinos. Han sido cuatro años de esfuerzo y trabajo duro, de compromiso serio con nuestro pueblo”, ha subrayado para recordar que “frente al caos en materia urbanística, se ha actuado con rigor en el marco de la legalidad, iniciando la redacción del Plan General o desbloqueando unidades de actuación y ámbitos tan importantes como el de El Mojón. No nos lo han puesto fácil”, ha asegurado.

El candidato socialista ha señalado también “a los presidentes del Gobierno de Canarias y del Cabildo de Tenerife, que no han venido a este municipio a resolver ninguno de los problemas que tenemos y que crearon sus representantes municipales, sino a dar mítines y actos de campaña. Eso no es hacer política para la gente, sino para sus propios intereses. No les preocupa Tenerife, ni su sanidad pública, ni sus carreteras, ni los centros educativos o las cientos de personas que esperan por su derecho a la dependencia”, ha añadido.

“Pedro Martín –dijo, en referencia al candidato socialista a la Presidencia del Cabildo de Tenerife- me dirijo a ti para que, por fin, lleves la voz de la gente, la voz del pueblo, al Cabildo, esa voz que durante demasiado tiempo no ha sido escuchada.
